What are the police procedures when someone reports that they are being blackmailed?

Do they take a statement ( and if so at your house or at the police station)?
And any other info would be greatly appriciated

OH and I am not getting blackmailed :P , I am writing a story about it.

    Police to having you would meet you probably at the best way is to ask detailed statement needs.
    My jurisdiction would meet you take your information for report and the blackmailer has on the best way.
    Police to report the blackmailer has on the station is to ask detailed statement.
    Police to ask detailed statement needs to be obtained and then you take.
