Pascha asked:

When a police department gets a large grant for fighting drugs, how does that affect how individual policemen get compensated and promoted? Do those incentives cause the police to negect other crimes not related to drugs?

The money goes to the drug unit where their assigned duties are to investigate drug complaints. Many smaller departments have a MEG (Multijuirsdictional Enforcement Group), so they combine resources with other departments in drug investigations.

A good portion of these funds are from asset forfeiture, not taxpayer money. They use confiscated drug money to fight drugs.

    For the taxpayers.

The use of the money is only to be spent.
The use of the use of the money is always audited so they arent spent on racing enforcement it pays for unmarked cars over time for.

For compensation that would have little to grant response and promotion that it would be separate determination all togetheras for compensation that it would have little to grant response and promotion that it would also say that would also.
For compensation that it would be applied to the department its self.
