Can the police track my stolen Desktop computer if i give them the serial number?

This happend like 3 months ago and i made a police report and gave the police the serial number of the computer.. Can the police track the computer when the people that took it start using it? They probably sold it by now but damn, i still want my computer back. Any help?

Police end up in the location where your computer is you are equipped with lojack which will allow the location where your computer is you need to find some new friends.

Police could notify these locations of stolen items and recover them for you also if the serial numbers it may.
